BIOGRAPHY

I'm Kat Pinson, a multi-media artist with a specialty in digital fabrication, animation and fiber art. I am fluent in software such as Rhinoceros 3D, Stop-Motion Studio, DaVinci Resolve, and TouchDesigner. Not to mention, a dab hand at embroidery, felting, and weaving. I have a soft spot in particular for stop-motion animation and archaic forms of textile arts. For an artist like me, my learning is lifelong because I am constantly trying to find new ways to combine older techniques of art with modern technology.

 

Within my pieces, I like to take how society understands a subject and flip it on its head. Oftentimes, it takes what traditionally would be serious content and re-envision it through a new playful lens. I combine the familiar and the horrifying to create a distance from which my audience can observe the interesting themes I explore.
